Maarten is an associate at the law firm of Hanotiau & van den Berg in Brussels and was admitted to the Brussels bar in 2007. His practice focuses on both domestic and international commercial litigation and arbitration. Maarten has acted as counsel, secretary to the tribunal or arbitrator under various arbitration rules (ICC, LCIA, SCC and CEPINA) or ad hoc. He obtained his Masters Degree in Law (Lic. Jur.) in 2004 and a Master in Economic Policy in 2005 from Katholieke Universiteit Leuven (Belgium). In 2006 he read for an LL.M. in International Business Law at Queen Mary University of London, where he focused on international commercial and investment Arbitration and was a member of the team that won the 1st prize overall in the 13th Willem C. Vis Moot in International Commercial Arbitration. He is part of the CEPINA 40 Steering Committee, Chief Blog & Publications of Young ICCA and a member of ICC YAF and LCIA YIAG.
