SIA nominated for award for sustained contribution to best practice in GAR Awards 2011

The School of International Arbitration at Queen Mary University of London is one of 5 nominees for the award for sustained contribution to best practice for this year's GAR Awards.

The GAR awards, organised by the Global Arbitration Review, aim at recognizing individuals, law firms and organisations for their role in the arbitration world during the preceding year. In addition to the announcement of the prestigious GAR30 list, ranking the most prominent law firms in the field of international arbitration, Gar Awards will be given in the following categories:

  • Institution of the year 2010
  • Small firm of the year 2010
  • Speech of the year 2010
  • Sustained contribution to IA best practice
  • Arbitrator of the year 2010
  • Advocate of the year 2010
  • Win of the year 2010
  • Court win of the year 2010
  • Best Development of 2010

In a news report of 23 February 2011, GAR unveiled the short list of nominees for these Awards. 

The School of International Arbitration is listed as one of the nominees for the GAR Award for Sustained Contribution to IA Best Practice. Other contenders are the IBA Committee on Arbitration, the ICC Institute of World Business Law, OGEMID and UNCITRAL Working Group II.

Winners will be announced at the GAR awards ceremony will take place during a dinner event in Seoul on 3 March 2011.
